Mark Brown has dedicated his career to law enforcement since 1997, serving in various capacities from corrections to patrol. For eight years, he was the assistant team leader of the City of Zanesville Special Response Team, executing multiple search warrants and responding to high-risk situations.
As a patrol officer, Mark worked in Zanesville’s most drug-affected areas, addressing high levels of drug activity, prostitution, and illegal after-hours clubs. His experience includes conducting numerous drug-related arrests ranging from misdemeanors to felonies and testifying in municipal, common pleas, and even federal courts on cases ranging from disorderly conduct to attempted murder.
Mark has earned certifications in basic crash investigations, ADAP, drug testing kits, and BAC machines, including Data Master and Intoxilyzer 8000. In 2015, recognizing his commitment to professional development, the police chief appointed him as the Zanesville Police Department’s Training Officer. In this role, he oversees training records for both officers and corrections staff, ensuring compliance with evolving state standards.
In 2018, Mark took on a new challenge as a Detective in the Zanesville Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit. He was also appointed as a Task Force Officer with the U.S. Marshals SOFAST Unit. Through this role, he has collaborated with agencies such as the Secret Service, Ohio Investigative Unit, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and U.S. Marshals. His primary responsibilities include handling felony drug cases (F3–F5) and prostitution cases, while also assisting the local Drug Task Force in larger operations.
